Wealden Saddlery
Buckhurst Farm, Hurst Green, East Sussex

The saddlery business comprises a workshop and rug washing room, and a small shop based on our farm, selling everything for the horse and rider, and is situated just outside the village of Hurst Green in East Sussex. After over 30 years in the business my wife and I have built up a wealth of experience both in the retailing and fitting of saddles and in the diagnosing of saddle fitting problems and remedial saddle fitting, as well as the repair of rugs, saddlery and tack. Equestrian experience also includes the knowledge gained from riding out to hounds and following the best of the Mid Surrey drag hounds across the best of the South East hedge country, and hunting with the Ashford Valley and East Sussex Romney Marsh hunts.

I have no particular saddle that I think is best, I use my experience to source the best from each manufacturer for the horse and rider in question, ensuring that the rider is comfortable, in balance with the horse, and the horse is not adversely affected by the saddle (i.e. it fits and is suitable for the purpose for which it is sold).

• Saddle-Fitting
  As a qualified saddle-fitter with many years of experience, I will visit you and your horse for a consultation, evaluating the situation on the spot. Having previously asked for as much information as possible about your requirements, your horse and you, when a booking is made. I load the car with as many Saddles as I think might work.
• Saddles For Sale
  We stock a large selection of new and second-hand saddles for sale. Approx. 250 saddles in stock
• Handmade Bridlework & Harness
  Only quality English and German Bridlework stocked.
• Saddlery Repairs & Overhaul
  We are fully facilitated to offer all saddlery repairs from re-flocking to New seats, or replacement trees.
• Rug Washing and Repair
  We washproof and repair all types of Horse rugs in our own wash room and workshop on the Farm.
• Rugs
  We stock a wide range of Horse Rugs.
• Clothing
  We have special clearance lines of Outdoor clothing following our move from High Street retailing to a more specialist Saddlery workshop and Store, which means we have quite a lot of general clothing to Sell.
